Endgame Combat Builds
Gearing up for the World Tree, raid bosses, or the final fight? This page covers which pals to build, exactly how to get each one, and four passive builds with alternatives depending on what you have access to.
The one thing that changed everything in 1.0: many top combat pals are now self-breed-only — Shadowbeak, Bastigor, Selyne, Xenogard, and all legendaries can no longer be bred from other species. Old combo guides (Kitsun × Astegon → Shadowbeak, etc.) are dead. Your first copy must be caught, raided, or found; breeding only multiplies copies and rolls passives after that.
The five pillars of a finished combat pal
1 · Right palTier list below. Element coverage matters — except the final boss duo, which is typeless (~420k HP): raw attack wins there.
2 · Four passivesBuilds below. Exclusives (Legend, signatures, rainbows) only arrive via breeding — see the
transfer guide.
3 · IVs 90+Breed high-IV parents or fish for a mutated egg (auto 90+). Check with an IV calculator before investing.
4 · Condense + soulsMax condensation costs 48 dupes in 1.0 (was 116). Then max soul upgrades at the Statue of Power.
5 · AwakenRadiant Gems from the World Tree unlock new moves and higher stats — the final power layer before level 80.
Tier list — Combat · Mount · Worker
SS best in slot
S excellent
A strong
B usable
D weak
— not rated / not a mount
Combat, Worker, and Mount grades reflect Palworld 1.0. Where a pal isn't a notable mount we show "—" rather than invent a grade. Run any breeding pair through the calculator to confirm.
The four builds
Where a build says "Signature +30%", keep that pal's exclusive elemental passive from the tier table above (Divine Dragon on Jetragon, Lord of the Underworld on Necromus, etc.) — it boosts the element its own attacks use, so it's effectively +30% to the whole kit. No signature on your pal? That slot becomes Ferocious.
⚔️ Glass Cannon
Maximum damage — raid DPS races, the typeless final boss. Best on: Xenolord, Blazamut Ryu, Jormuntide Ignis.
God of DestructionDemon GodMuscleheadSignature +30%
- Atk +40/30/30 +30% element — but God of Destruction costs −50% max HP. Keep it behind you, not tanking.
- God of Destruction is a World Tree passive — if you can't source it, this becomes the Balanced build below.
Alternative: no signature passive on your target pal? Run Ferocious (+20%) in that slot.
🛡️ Balanced Boss-Killer
The default endgame build — big damage without dying to one mechanic. Best on: Necromus, Jetragon, Frostallion Noct.
LegendDemon GodMuscleheadSignature +30%
- Legend (+20/20/20) only enters a line through a legendary parent — plan the breeding chain first.
- On Necromus, Lord of the Underworld boosts its own Dark kit; on Jetragon, Divine Dragon does the same.
Alternative: swap Musclehead → Ferocious if this pal also works your base (Musclehead's −50% work speed hurts there).
💚 Immortal Sustain
Long raids and hard-mode tower bosses where survival beats burst. Best on: Frostallion, Neptilius, Hartalis, Paladius.
ImmortalityIdiosyncraticLegendDiamond Body
- Lifesteal + doubled regen + Def +75% total + flinch/knockback immunity. This pal does not die.
- Immortality and Idiosyncratic are rainbow passives — mutation eggs only, then bred across. That's the grind.
Alternative (no rainbows yet): Legend + Diamond Body + Burly Body + Demon God — tanky enough for everything but Ultra raids.
🗡️ Player-Powered
1.0's rising meta: the pal buffs YOU. Best with: Selyne (team-wide partner buff), Skutlass Ignis (katana), Felbat (lifesteal).
VanguardStronghold StrategistDemon GodLegend
- Vanguard/Stronghold buff player attack/defense +10% each while the pal fights beside you.
- Pair with your own endgame weapons — the pal is a force multiplier, not the carry.
Alternative: stack a full party of player-buff partner skills (Gobfin-style attack auras) for pure player-DPS raiding.
Team template for the endgame
- Slot 1 — your ride: Jetragon (Balanced build) — fastest flyer, doubles as a damage dealer.
- Slot 2 — raw damage: Xenolord or Blazamut Ryu (Glass Cannon).
- Slot 3 — the wall: Frostallion or Neptilius (Immortal Sustain).
- Slot 4 — dark coverage: Necromus (Balanced) — Dark hits the many Neutral endgame bosses hard.
- Slot 5 — support: Selyne (Player-Powered) or a Lucky/utility pal.
Against the final duo (typeless, no weaknesses): bring your three highest raw-attack builds, awaken them, and treat every hit as lethal.
Worth double-checking in your game
- Shadowbeak's and Orserk's exact 1.0 wild spawn points — reports differ between Sunreach and the World Tree.
- Meteor-event timing/frequency for Selyne and Xenogard.
- Passive stacking math (additive vs multiplicative) hasn't been formally confirmed — the build rankings hold either way, but exact DPS numbers vary.
